Okay so I'm going to pull out a quote from Charles Dickens to describe how I feel on this summery day.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times

I recently spoke at the Athlete Leaders Network and in that process of preparing for that talk I was asked to recommend some good AI apps for athletes.

So I went on a hunt to find some good AI apps....

Then I couldn't, so then I just went on a hunt to find some AI apps.

Then I wanted to test it, so I went and searched good AI handwriting apps.

There was one called Note GPT that had a lot of big promises.

Note GPT App

The blurb promises "stunning sketchnotes" but instead you get disjointed random lines.

Note GPT App

Excuse me? Seriously? What the absolute heck is that?

How can someone even ship that? It just doesn't make any sense. Not only is it bad it is worth than useless.

Then I had the realisation that I couldn't find any good AI apps.

The whole time, trialing these products, I was thinking to myself, why the heck do they all suck?

This blog post is going to be an attempt to understand and unpack the reasons why the majority of AI apps suck

The reason why this is so perplexing is that we have old Chat GPT that seems to just be the worlds greatest thing ever. These other apps are supposedly built ontop of it, but they just don't seem to work.
